FAQ

Who can take the courses?

Anyone who wants to deepen their faith and understand it more fully, so that they can be more effective in living a life of discipleship. It is ideal both for those who have recently come to faith, or those who have been Christians for many years.

But I don’t know anything about theology!

You probably know more than you think. In any case, we don’t assume that participants have studied any theology before. After all, you have to start somewhere. The two tracks can be taken in any order, but if you are not sure where to start, we suggest you begin with the Bible track.

Who will teach it?

SPTC have filmed some of the best thinkers/communicators at Holy Trinity Brompton, London. We will be watching those sessions on DVD, and some of the SPTC staff will travel to Sheffield to present some of the sessions live.

Do I have to belong to St Thomas Crookes to take the course?

No. The course is aimed at all those who are seeking to increase their understanding of their faith, although some participants may also be from St Thomas Crookes.

How do I apply?

Fill in the application form and send it to St Thomas Crookes Church office with a cheque made payable to ‘St Thomas Church’.

Where does it happen?

It will be held at St Thomas’ Church, Nairn Street, Crookes, Sheffield, S10 1UL

When does it happen?

The School meets on Saturday mornings, once a month over the year. We begin at 9:30am with a time of worship, before the first session. We continue through to 1pm, with a break mid-morning for coffee and pastries. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

How much will it cost?

To get the best out of the School of Theology, we would recommend attending the whole course. The cost for the whole year (9 sessions) is £75. Individual sessions are £10 for adults, and £5 for students/unwaged/retired. For further information about costs and/or bursaries, please contact the School of Theology team.
The Systematic Theology module and Mission module will cost £165. This includes lunch on module days and attendance at another track on non-module days.
