This year we are delighted that we are able to offer a Systematic Theology module in partnership with SPTC and a Mission module with Church Army. We would love for you to consider doing one of these modules alongside one of the ‘tracks’ that we have to offer.
Module 1 (SPTC) – Systematic Theology
This will be taught live (not DVD) by two great communicators, Revd Dr Lincoln Harvey and Dr Jane Williams on 21st April and 19th May 2012 (9.30-4 including lunch). This module promises to be extremely engaging and exciting! Dr Lincoln Harvey is tutor in Theology and teaches acrossthe whole of St Mellitus College. Dr Jane Williams teaches doctrine at SPTC and is married to Rowan.
Systematic Theology is the joyful task of discovering the beauty of the gospel in lively conversation with generations of Christians who have gone before us. Through careful reflection on the scriptures and the creeds, we will be guided through the central teachings of the Church, finding out why it is good news that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and what it means to be his creatures today. In so doing, we will begin to see afresh how the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus of Nazareth informs all we have to say about God and the world in which we live.
Module 2 (Church Army) – Mission
This module will be taught live by Dr Elaine Storkey of Church Army on 21st January and 25th February (9.30-4 including lunch). Dr Elaine Storkey is the president of Tearfund and a regular broadcaster on the BBC. She has taught at the University of Oxford and is a sought after communicator.
This module is an introduction to some of the key ideas and issues relating to Christian mission in today’s world. It will help you to wrestle with how to be a more effective disciple and you will be encouraged to apply what you learn into your own specific context. If you are looking for a module that you can apply immediately into your own walk with Jesus and sharing his good news with others, then this is for you!
Is this for me?
Yes! You don’t need A-Levels, GCSEs etc but bear in mind that it is a degree level course so you will need to do some reading around the subject and there will be an essay for you to get stuck in to! You don’t have to do the essay but we would highly recommend it. The main thing is, enjoy the module!
How do I book?
To book on to one of the modules please click here and fill in a module application form.
The cost of a module is £165 and this includes access to one of the School of Theology ‘tracks’ the Saturdays when your module is not on.
